Queensland Psychology Clinic offers a range of comprehensive assessment services for children, adolescents and adults. Our team of clinicians are specially qualified to assess for a variety of different purposes including;

  • Cognitive Assessments
  • Pre-Sentence Reports
  • General Risk Assessments
  • Medico-legal Reports
  • Family Court Reports

What does an assessment involve?

Assessments may involve all or a combination of; paper-pencil inventories, online assessments test batteries, structured observations or a structured clinical interview. In most cases the assessments are completed by the client being assessed however they may also require rating scores or verbal input from family members or significant others in the client’s life or other professionals who work with the individual.

The time required to complete an individual assessment may range from as little as 5 minutes to 2 hours (or more) and some assessments may occur over several weeks. In most cases the assessments will be conducted on-site at Queensland Psychology Clinic but may occur in other settings, as required.

How much does an assessment cost?

Some assessments are free and are used by your psychologist to track your treatment progress. Some questionnaires that are used to assess certain behaviours or presentations are completed aspart of treatment, to guide treatment planning and do not encompass an individual assessment package.

Please note that assessments that require a report are not covered under a GP Mental Health Care Plan and therefore not eligible for a Medicare rebate under the Medicare Better Access initiative. Private health rebates may be available for some treatment-related assessments (please check with your individual health care provider) but generally assessments are not eligible for rebates. For some assessments we can offer a payment plan rather than an upfront lump sum payment. However in all cases we require the full balance of the assessment to be paid before we release the report.

The cost of the assessment is on an individual case by case basis and therefore requires a telephone conversation with the assessing psychologist to determine exactly what is required and they will then be able to provide you with a quote. Please call the clinic to arrange a telephone call quote (07) 3281 3796.
